Exploration School Field Trips

Our Naturalists at Galena Creek Visitor Center lead a variety of exploration field trips designed for K-12 grade students. Field trips dates are available in the Spring, Fall and Winter.

3-Hour Field Trip

An Unforgettable Outdoor Learning Experience

Explore nature’s wonders in a whirlwind, 3-hour adventure! Our Naturalists lead hands-on, nature-based activities that uncover fascinating plants, animals, and ecosystems. Students delve into interactive lessons, sparking curiosity and passion for the natural world–in just half a day!

  • Outdoor Adventure: Immerse your students in nature, fostering appreciation for the environment and promoting healthy movement
  • Every field trip includes a guided hike

Logistics

Location: Galena Creek Regional Park, 18250 Mt. Rose Highway, Reno, NV 89511

Duration: 3-hour field trips being at 10am and end at 1pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Students bring their own lunch and eat at the Visitor Center. 

Field Trip Fees: $12 per student   No fee for Chaperones or Teachers

Student Participation: Min. 12 students and Max 80 students. 

Title I Schools: $TBD per student (subject to scholarship availability)

Dive Deep into Discovery

Our 6-hour Extended Day Field Study dives deep into local ecosystems, fostering environmental literacy and building strong connections with nature. Through hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning, students explore STEAM principles, aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Book one day or multiple days in a row!

Logistics

Location: Galena Creek Regional Park, 18250 Mt. Rose Highway, Reno, NV 89511

Duration: 6-hour field trips being at 9am and end at 3pm, with a 30-minute lunch break, Lunch provided for students only.

Field Trip Fees: $25 per student, with simple sack lunch included. Adults no fee.

Student Participation: Min. 12 students and Max 80 students. 

Title I Schools: $TBD * (subject to scholarship availability)

Weather: Extended Day Field Trips are rarely canceled due to weather. In extreme cases (wildfire, heavy snow, lightning, etc.) we will collaboratively reschedule.
